San Francisco, CA—August 30, 2016—HWTrek (Hardware Trek), the global open innovation platform for hardware creation, announced it is joining the Amazon Launchpad Services Hub as a manufacturing services provider. Joining Amazon Launchpad Services Hub is part of HWTrek’s effort to rewire the global supply chain by enabling digital communication and collaboration between supply chain vendors and hardware developers. The goal is to bridge the gap between the speed of the evolution of Industry 4.0 and the requirements of rapid innovation realization. HWTrek, together with partners, connects the dots virtually between hardware developers and the supply chain for the entire life-cycle of a product from ideation to manufacturing, and retail to delighted customers.
HWTrek’s cloud-based collaborative platform is the first global, complete end-to-end hardware development ecosystem—a one-stop shop—for IoT hardware innovators working to manage their product development, connect with manufacturing and supply chain industry experts, and bring their connected device projects to market.
“We look forward to meeting the innovative global projects within the HWTrek hardware development ecosystem with whom we hope to collaborate and contribute to and at the same time further develop our own technologies,” said Junko Ikawa, coordinator at the Ota City Industrial Promotion Organization. “3,500 companies – with excellent technologies – in Ota City have survived a long recession in Japan. It is our priority to explore innovation in new areas.”
HWTrek now connects more than 7,000 hardware creators that have created 2,100 projects on the platform to 1,500 trusted manufacturing and supply chain industry experts from Shenzhen, Taiwan, and Japan to rest of the world—from tier 1 ODMs to small, skilled design houses—who have developed unique programs and solutions to assist the creators. More than 3,000 inquiries have been successfully bridged with manufacturers and other experts.
“HWTrek is building a valuable platform and global network to connect hardware entrepreneurs worldwide to the “Silicon Valley’s” of hardware in Taipei and Southern China,” stated Nathan Meryash, CTO of Keen Home—the makers of the Smart Vent sold via Amazon Launchpad. “The team is made up of people with significant heritage from the world’s top electronics manufacturers. HWTrek can help you establish or boost your familiarity with the opportunities and best practices in this industry or to provide an on-demand extension to your team overseas.”
“HWTrek is solving the hard thing about hardware – actually getting great ideas made at scale and quality,” said Jonathan Palley, Co-founder and CEO of Spire. “Anyone in the hardware ecosystem should look at how to partner with what HWTrek is putting together.”
